You know.. I miss Minnesota for lots of reasons. I have friends and family there, the land is beautiful, there are seasons.. and it's warm. Not outside, maybe; at least, not all year 'round. But inside, it's always quite comfortable.

Not so here. Why are people here so goddamn addicted to the air conditioning? Yeah, it's hot sometimes. Well, most of the time. But come on, man! A/C is good for about two minutes when you come in from the hot afternoon sun.. but then, once you've cooled down, you realize that you're living in a refrigerator. Usually I can handle it, because I have a wide variety of sweaters, sweatshirts, and long-sleeved shirts. But what I really hate is taking a shower.

Especially when, on occasion, the water isn't even hot. This seems to happen at least a couple times a week, and so I oftentimes end up making little circles throughout my shower time to keep the moderate warmth on as much of me as possible. But then comes the time when the water has to go off, and even though there isn't much heat, it keeps the goosebumps at bay. And then there's that terrible, agonizing span of about 70 seconds when I try as quickly as possible to get dry and make a mad dash for my pajamas.

Tonight was especially bad for some reason, maybe because I'd gotten used to the luxury of a warm shower, followed by an equally warm bathroom so that I could take my time drying off, getting dressed, brushing my teeth, and all that other nighttime nonsense, without getting bumpy skin and nipping out like whoa (TMI OMG). So now I am bitter. Bitter and angry. And I turned up the A/C to 70 degrees, bitches, and if you don't like it, too damn bad.

Just as an afterword.. to my roomies, I'm not actually that angry, especially since I am now cuddled up to a sweatshirt and am not as frigid >.> I just felt like ranting, because being cold fucking sucks. And to everyone else: you people make fun of me for being so cold all the damn time here.. well. This is why. You people and your air conditioners. :P

I just thought this was kind of a neat quote:

"We cannot fathom the marvelous complexity of an organic being; but on the hypothesis here this complexity is much increased. Each living creature must be looked at as a microcosm -- a little universe, formed of a host of self-propagating organisms, inconceivably minute and as numerous as the stars in heaven."

- Charles Darwin, 1868, on the theory of endosymbiosis with regards to evolution
